There were widespread calls for the introduction of regulations surrounding European Tour trophies after another near miss today at the Qatar Masters. Dignitaries, including a Sheikh and banker, almost decapitated Dane Thomas Bjorn during the trophy presentation. The Qatar Masters trophy, a giant clam, became dangerously unstable in 
the windy conditions and almost snapped shut on Bjorn’s jugular.
The controversy follows just weeks after Martin Kaymer refused to touch the Race To Dubai trophy. Apparently Kaymer was worried for his toes after a forklift, hidden boom and two of the Dubai weightlifting team were required to help Westwood lift it the previous year.
