Winner Alright: Last week we tipped Richard Green at 28/1. A tenner each way would have paid 80 quid!

Watch out for Lee Westwood this week and next. With Rory and Tiger in the field the spotlight will be off the Englishman who is a proven performer on this course. Finished tied second in 2008 just one shot behind winner Vijay Singh then returned in 2009, shooting 65 in the final round to climb to ninth. Was forced to withdraw from last years staging to a calf injury, which is rumoured to have flared up again at the Open Championship where he missed the cut. If fully fit this week Lee should be up there.
Hunter Mahan 36/1

After Hunter’s tied fourth here in 2009, we tipped him to win at 56/1 last year and he obliged, so that in itself is reason to have a little flutter again. His odds of 36/1 reflect the poor season he has had this year to date however. Hunter’s highlights are a second in the AT&T at Pebble Beach and a top 10 in The Players. Maybe wait until Friday night if you are not convinced about the defending champion.
Retief Goosen 80/1

An each way bet is purely for fans of Retief Goosen since he hasn’t played tournament golf since pulling out of the Open Championship after the first round with a back injury. However a fit Goose has impressed me this year especially his 66 in the final round at Castle Stuart to climb to 14
th. Tied for third in Munich behind Garcia and winner Larrazabal, the same result as he had at the St Jude Classic at the start of June. Retief tied third last year after following a third round 73 with a 65. If he’s well, he has the game to contend.
Steve Stricker 19/1

What can you say about Stricks. He has been in the top 20 in every event since the last WGC event back in March. Twice a winner since then also at The Memorial and impressively defending his title at the John Deere. Twelfth in his last outing at The Open. Tied ninth here last year in the company of Rory and tied sixth in 2009. The PGA version of Jimenez.
Sean O’Hair 70/1

Odds of 70/1 suggest the bookies think Sean O’Hair’s win last time out a flash in the pan. And the form suggests it was. O’Hair won that Canadian Open after a playoff with Kris Blanks. A disappointing final round of 70 last year saw him finish fifth after being right in contention going into the final round. That Canadian win may give him the confidence to contend again this week.
