Thanks Tiernan Byrne for this:
The Inaugural year of the Junior Pro Am Series is drawing to its grand finale with the sixteen qualifying teams busy cleaning their clubs, polishing their shoes and packing their bags for the Final in St. Helens Bay Golf Resort on the 8th October.
Over the past eight months we’ve had four Regional Qualifiers, with over 250 Junior’s and over 60 Assistant Professional’s participating in the Series. The qualifiers took place in St. Helens Bay Golf Resort (27th April), Milltown Golf Club (6th July), Mitchelstown Golf Club (25th July) and Malahide Golf Club (26th August), where the top four teams in each event qualified for the Grand Final.
The hosting clubs have really supported the Series and are crucial to the continued promotion of Junior Golf in Ireland, “Once we heard about the JPA Series, we were immediately interested in hosting one of the regional qualifiers. We had over 20 teams competing in a morning shotgun start and the whole day proved to be huge success. In fact, we have already signed up for next year! It’s a great opportunity for both junior golfers and assistant professionals to play in an official PGA tournament and earn vital experience.” Fredrick Moran, Vice Captain, Malahide Golf Club.
The qualifying Juniors that are making the trip to St. Helens Bay will be representing over 15 different golf clubs from Baltray in Louth to Frankfield GC in Cork. St. Helens Bay has been one of the driving forces behind the Series and is looking forward to hosting the 2011 Final, “This is something very close to our hearts in St. Helens Bay and I’m delighted to see how the Series has caught the imagination of both the juniors & assistant professionals. St. Helens Bay is delighted to host the final and we are looking forward to welcoming all the participants to the Sunny South East!” Larry Byrne, owner of St. Helens Bay Golf Resort.
There has been a very positive reaction to the Series from the participating golf clubs, juniors, professionals and parents alike. The Series would not be possible without the support of its title sponsors, Zurich & Arachas Insurance, “As main sponsors, both Zurich & Arachas are delighted to be involved with the Junior Pro Am Series. It’s great to be a part of promoting junior golf in Ireland and we look forward to seeing all the qualifying teams compete in St. Helen's Bay for the Junior Pro Am Series Trophy'. - Conor Brennan, Director of Broker Distribution, Zurich.
