This article has been updated.Huge speculation surrounds the possible venue for the 2012 Irish Open and the common consensus among the speculators had been that the tournament is set to move from Killarney, host for the last two years, to Carton House near Dublin.
However this now seems highly unlikely with Royal Portrush emerging as the favourite to host the event. An announcement is set to be made at a press conference with the Tour tomorrow.

It would be great to see it take place at a links course. For example the European club in Brittas bay or a Royal county Down in the north.
