Steve Stricker 8/1
I’m sticking with Stricks again this week. He owes me. Top 25 at the Greenbrier last week and looking to win here for the fourth time in a row. Came from two behind with two to play last year and looked like a man who sold his soul to the devil in exchange for holing every putt. Sure to be up there.
Kyle Stanley 55/1
The Phoenix Open winner early in the year hasn’t managed a top 20 since but came mighty close on his start at Congressional. That gave Stanley a rest after six straight weeks on the road and I think he could have a good week here. He knows how to low on TPC Deere run and last year in the final round put on an exhibition of putting. The only putt he missed? On the final green for par, which would have got him into a playoff!
Zach Johnson 15/1
Two seconds at the Heritage and Players and then came the big win for Zach at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. Johnson is from Cedar Rapids around 90 miles away in Iowa and will be very popular here this week having tied for third last year and tied second in 2009.
Chez Reavie 80/1
A short hitter by Tour standards averaging 283 yards but Chez Reavie has found a bit of form of late and will have one of the few courses in the year that suit his game to work with this week. Finished just outside the top 10 at The Travelers and then 15th last time out in the AT&T at Congressional. A final round 73 there was tough to swallow and cost Chez a lot of Benjamins. So Sundays are not his favourite day, though he tied fifth last year here, Reavie’s final round of 74 was 12 shots more than his Friday 62!
Best Of The Rest
I havent given up on Brendon De Jonge38/1 though he let us down last week. He’s still in decent form and worth an each way look if he’s there around cut time. He shot a 63 in the third round last year. Also keep a check on Mark Wilson 95/1 this week also around cut time. He will eye Deere Run as a place where he can still do damage.
