Lovely story today about Luke Donald’s caddie John McLaren who was given the day off by his boss to be with his newborn baby. John’s wife Helen gave birth to their first child yesterday. Common sense prevailed as a new life took precedence over a golf tournament. McLaren joins Jason Day and Webb Simpson as chief nappy changers, but expect him to be back on Saturday morning to help his boss win the Claret Jug.
Robert Karlsson’s regular caddie Gareth Lord is set to deputize today. Karlsson pulled out of the tournament bizarrely after deciding his short game was not in good enough condition to compete.
