Former Thai paratrooper Thongchai Jaidee can not only kill you with a flick of his ear lobe, he’s also a damn good chef.
And so he proved at the final of the acclaimed Doc’s Dirty Dishes TV show, edging out culinary kings Henrik Stenson and Bernhard Langer. The three men emerged following a 10 week process which featured 30 of the world’s best golfers and kicked off at the BMW International Open in Germany.
Jaidee beat Stenson in the final, after the judges finally grew impatient with the Swede’s variations of spaghetti bolognaise. Pre-final favourite Bernhard Langer, known for his exactness in measuring ingredients, was first to be eliminated in the decider after uncharacteristically burning a salad.
The final show, set to be aired on Sky Sports this weekend features Jaidee wowing the judges with his slight of hand using MSG, a technique he learned from his friend who owns Nahm Jim’s Thai restaurant in St. Andrews. The fact that he also did all the dishes, swept the floor, then slept on it, is also said to have tipped the balance in his favour.
