Scanning the morning papers I read a report about Ernie Els expressing an interest to be part of the 2016 Olympic Games and it got me to checking who would make up the field as it stands today.  Fortunately there is a website that keeps track.  Follow @golfcentraldoc

Rory McIlroy tops the rankings on the Ireland team alongside GMac (12th).  Interesting to see that Team GB as it stands is made up of Justin Rose and Jamie Donaldson.  Team USA as it stands boasts the most competitors with Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar all currently in the 60 man field.

World number 11 Phil Mickelson at present does not make the Games but along with Jordan Spieth and Billy Horschel are poised to challenge for the prized Team USA spots. There's no room either for Tiger Woods.
