Determined to celebrate his Honda Classic playoff win over Daniel Berger by eating a burger, because that's what an esoteric genius does, Padraig Harrington visited 15 fast food outlets before finally getting fed at Five Guys on Park Rd, Palm Beach Gardens.

The three-time major winner first visited Burger King but left after questioning the mental approach of the staff.  A subsequent visit to McDonalds left Harrington refusing to stay citing unhappiness with the dimensions of the burger compared to that shown on the menu.

Over the next three hours the Dubliner visited a dozen more fast food outlets and was believed to have been close to ordering the Burger Special at Wendy's but then some Spaniards came in and sat beside him forcing him to leave.

The newly crowned PGA Tour winner was then about to eat at Whataburger but expressed concerns over the freshness of the burger when it was served too fast.  "I bet they had that burger made up and just sitting there for about half an hour," he said. "As if those stupid lights could keep it hot. I didn't come down with the last shower."

Harrington finally got to eat his celebratory burger in Five Guys at 11pm last night. "It was really good except for that shagging gherkin, " said Harrington. "I had to pick it out. Why do these people think that anyone would like gherkins? And there was too much ice in my Coke. Did you know they use the ice as a trick to give you less actual Coke."

More as it emerges.
