Form in temporary, class is permanent and Tommy Fleetwood punching the air after his win at The Nedbank was one of those priceless stand up and applaud moments in golf.

First there was Fleetwood's final round of 7-under par. Let's put that into perspective on a course on which the organisers generally like to have a four round winning total of 12 under. Nobody is meant to make three eagles and four birdies with those Sunday pins. It's just not meant to happen. Yet Tommy did. Three shots better on Sunday than anyone in the field.

And then to the playoff with Marcus Kinhult who bravely held his nerve in regulation holes to tie Fleetwood.
Both were in difficulty on the first extra hole (the 18th) after two shots but cometh the hour cometh the Englishman with a sublime chip from an awkward position to set up par and win the title.

And as that winning putt dropped the outpouring of emotion from Tommy Fleetwood was like a tidal wave, his fist delivering the perfect upper cut to 22 months of hard graft.

Bravo Tommy. That was incredible.

How He Did It

Tommy Fleetwood hit a total of 35 fairways for the week with his TaylorMade M5 driver, T8 in the field, averaging an enormous 330.8 yards at altitude in Sun City.  Using a blend of Srixon Z785 and TaylorMade P7TW irons he found 51 greens in regulation for a clip of T9 in the field.  That set up 119 total putts with his Odyssey #3 White Hot Pro putter converting four eagles and 16 birdies versus 12 bogeys.  With the help of his TaylorMade GAPR Lo utility iron and M6 fairways, Fleetwood amassed a cumulative 16 under for just the par-5 holes, four shots better than anyone else in the field.
