So for you nerds out there, his method for success these last two years has been to commit to driver where he can; he can average 315 yards and he'll still hit 32-33 fairways, which statistically puts him in a massively advantageous position versus the field. He knows then that with his iron proximity game strength, he can avoid scrambling which he's sh!t at, and thus contend. Simple!! "When they pushed us forcefully onto two chairs and took the heavy linen sacks off our heads, we could see we were in a tiny room with black walls, and one big dark mirror. Sitting across the table from us was a small Saudi man, leafing carefully through a big dusty ledger."</div><div><br /></div><div>"Standing in the corner leaning against the wall was another man. I didn't know who he was at first, as my eyes were still adjusting, but then I saw it was Phil. But it wasn't the Phil I knew. He didn't say hello, he wore a black leather jacket, like a sicario. He scowled and turned his shoulder away from us. It was scary to see this Phil, not normal nodding and sheepishly thanking people Phil."</div><div><br /></div><div>"The Saudi official finally looked up at us, his almost kind eyes locking onto mine over his little circular spectacles. And so the negotiations began."</div><div><br /></div><div>"<i>Mister Jon Rahm we will offer you one million dollars to play the LIV golfing contest</i>" said the accountant his wizened fingers shakily removing his glasses. </div><div>"I was just about to talk to say 'Yes, grand, ok, sure, whatever, just don't kill us' when I felt Javier's right arm extend protectively across my chest."</div><div><br /></div><div>"'<i>No!</i>' said Javier. <i>We will not accept anything less than 700 million dollars!!!</i>," he affirmed in a tone that made the wizened accountant ever so slightly jolt.</div><div><br /></div><div>"Now before I go on with the story let me tell you a bit about Javier," Rahm asided. "To put it kindly, Javier is an absolute chancer, he'd sell his own mother to make a few quid, this lad would sell snow to the eskimos....I'd say he's skimming off me for years for God's sakes but sure they all are.......Anyway back to the story.......Javier had piped up, absolutely chancing his arm with this 700 million demand."</div><div><br /></div><div>"<i>Not a hope in hell 700 million!</i>" batted back the accountant sounding for the first time a little annoyed. "<i>Look we're not made of money, we'll do 600 million, here shake my hand.</i>"</div><div><br /></div><div>"<i>No!</i>" bolted Javier a second time, banging his heavy fist on the table. "I felt his hand grip firmly on the back of my shirt then reef me powerfully into a standing position. '<i>No deal. We are leaving this hell hole</i>.'</div><div><br /></div><div>"Javier ushered me toward the metal door when we heard the accountant behind us slam shut the heavy ledger, a thick plume of dust rising up from it towards the lone bulb that lit the room."</div><div><br /></div><div>"<i>Okay Mister Javier, you win. What is it you really want?</i>," resigned the accountant. This time his voice was soft, for the first time he almost sounded sincere.</div><div><br /></div><div>"<i>We want 600 million dollars, and two front row tickets to Fury versus Usyk whenever the fuck they eventually fight</i>," Javier demanded in a dangerous monotone voice......</div><div>"<i>And!.....I'm not finished....and...</i></div><div><i>we want two tickets to Coldplay in Dublin</i>."</div><div><br /></div><div>"It was then that all hell broke loose. The accountant dropped the facade, his eyes turning black as he pointed threateningly towards me."</div><div><br /></div><div>"<i>Yes yes yes I can do the 600 million, we have money, yes yes yes I can do the fight, I know Mister Eddie but Coldplay tickets in Croke Park??? This is fucking impossible??? Everybody knows that concert sold out in seconds??? Tickets are like hen's fucking teeth???</i>"</div><div><br /></div><div>"<i>Then we are done here</i>," Javier retorted cutting him off. "<i>Good day to you Sir</i>'"</div><div><br /></div><div>"Before we had time to draw breath, the metal door opened, and in walked a tall man wearing pristine white robes. It was the King."</div><div><br /></div><div>"He extended his arms as if to embrace us and smiled. The richest man in the World was now in this tiny cell with us."</div><div><br /></div><div>"<i>Welcome to the LIV golfing competition match thing Mister Jon Rahm and Mister Javier</i>," the King said warmly. "<i>It's a deal. 600 million, the Tyson Fury fight, and you can have my two Coldplay tickets. They are bog standard standing-only on the pitch level tickets, but they were all I could get, the internet is pretty shit here.</i>"</div><div><br /></div><div>"And that is the story of how I signed for LIV."</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Join the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Golfcentral-Daily/731385656972053" target="_blank">GolfCentralDaily community on Facebook Here</a> and on <a href="https://twitter.com/DonalDocHughes" target="_blank">Twitter Here</a>.GolfCentralDailyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07701580566077478087noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7321519672776175452.post-74135925156076352832023-12-07T11:50:00.005+00:002023-12-07T11:53:11.790+00:0024 Handicapper Who Cant Drive For Shite Unhappy With Golf Ball Rollback<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgItBCL5K3Zw-DILz0uzJC6PrU-ni-SvmJ6Zej2g2kjuQ8sLjKyhrZ91b6yqcP8OrTTfv5dqfD3e9jKzRXDuHGFIUh_FuSHaH2IgdFjIhuf5EuuMtMZ1Hr4zZYbNPimsNwxomeXsvLKgz-3m55DEDdFzTtZWJ7N7HzHbnEF76HKaMUzu_-TjHWrCiaPLiQ/s872/Screenshot%202023-12-07%20at%2011.44.49.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="512" data-original-width="872" height="376" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgItBCL5K3Zw-DILz0uzJC6PrU-ni-SvmJ6Zej2g2kjuQ8sLjKyhrZ91b6yqcP8OrTTfv5dqfD3e9jKzRXDuHGFIUh_FuSHaH2IgdFjIhuf5EuuMtMZ1Hr4zZYbNPimsNwxomeXsvLKgz-3m55DEDdFzTtZWJ7N7HzHbnEF76HKaMUzu_-TjHWrCiaPLiQ/w640-h376/Screenshot%202023-12-07%20at%2011.44.49.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>"I'm absolutely fumin'" said keen golfer Tommy O'Donoghue this morning as news broke that the golf ball will be rolled back next year. But I'll tell you why I think this transfer has happened.</div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Reason 1</h3><div><br /></div><div>Graeme McDowell, in a time when LIV was starting out and was deeply unpopular (you can argue if it still is) stuck his neck out for them. It might have been cringeworthy to look at, some (or all) of the awful growing the game videos, but there's no arguing that time and again GMac put himself out there for the new Tour.</div><div><br /></div><div>When Dustin Johnson and Louis Oosthuisen wouldn't say boo a goose at press conferences, GMac was peppered with all the questions about sportswashing, Yemen, murder, LGBT, the treatment of Saudi women etc. Granted, he f*cked up plenty in his answers, but in the overall scheme of things he did a seriously effective job of being a human flak jacket for LIV and Saudi when they needed it most.</div><div><br /></div><div><div><i>“If Saudi Arabia wanted to use the game of golf as a way for them to get to where they want to be,” he said, “and they have the resources to accelerate that experience, I think we are proud to help them on that journey.”</i></div><div><br /></div><div>Maybe "proud" wasn't the word I'd have used, but again GMac was the only one trying to answer the questions while the others hid under tables. And it's only right all that slog, that unpopular "work" had to be acknowledged by LIV and all the players....and now be rewarded.</div><div><br /></div><div>But here we are heading into 2024 and everyone is shocked to see Graeme McDowell joining Smash GC and Brooks Koepka.</div></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Reason 2</h3><div><br /></div><div>It seems fairly obvious to me anyway that one of main reasons GMac was picked up by Brooks is the "Ricky" connection. Brooks' long time caddie Ricky Elliot is the glue that binds everyone together. He is a universally popular and proud Portrush man and aside from the game of golf, is a great friend that has given Brooks a love of the people and the town.</div><div><br /></div><div>But before ever Brooks came along, Ricky and Graeme are unwavering lifelong best friends, from Portrush to Lake Nona.</div><div><br /></div><div>And of course then you can see Brooks would extend the hand to Graeme.</div><div><br /></div><div>You can have all the money in the world, but maybe that hand of friendship, is one of best things yet about LIV.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Join the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Golfcentral-Daily/731385656972053" target="_blank">GolfCentralDaily community on Facebook Here</a> and on <a href="https://twitter.com/DonalDocHughes" target="_blank">Twitter Here</a>.GolfCentralDailyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07701580566077478087noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7321519672776175452.post-23859841252655616122023-11-28T14:30:00.012+00:002023-11-28T14:49:07.882+00:00Doc's Guide To Girona Golf In TorreMirona And Perelada With Dali and Michelin Stars<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXMUTM42yv5DGl5leC-X5dh_m3PuShFkJbjoeJgoGr1ChgN1FimT2bTjp2tDlv2O4CZSVubntYFaaI4xJQ4nIunn1Jimu6vsez00oMmbQKFLHPVYx-RYKZmUUolkK10tzy2da-Z3GTOfWKvUwQ8izs6l-9mYotlfpVtIaGNM8HMZhDtzN7RVJtihIvS2E/s2048/Group%20at%20Perelada.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXMUTM42yv5DGl5leC-X5dh_m3PuShFkJbjoeJgoGr1ChgN1FimT2bTjp2tDlv2O4CZSVubntYFaaI4xJQ4nIunn1Jimu6vsez00oMmbQKFLHPVYx-RYKZmUUolkK10tzy2da-Z3GTOfWKvUwQ8izs6l-9mYotlfpVtIaGNM8HMZhDtzN7RVJtihIvS2E/w640-h480/Group%20at%20Perelada.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div>It’s lashing rain at home, the clocks have gone back, it’s dark at five o’clock. We’re huddled around the fire feeling sorry for ourselves, the golf clubs are growing mould in the shed and things are so bleak that all we have to look forward to is the Rumba on <i>Strictly Come Dancing</i> of a Saturday night. You dream of a getaway with the crew for a few days of golf, in the Sun, with good food, a glass of wine, nice hotels, bit of culture and craic. Where do you go? The Girona region in Spain of course!!</div><div><br />The Costa Brava and the Girona area in the North East in particular (a couple of hours North of Barcelona) with lots of marquee courses is massively popular with Irish, UK and European golfers. The problem is the marketing juggernaut for those courses is so effective, that they’re jam packed all the time, while other brilliant courses hotels and towns down the road have lots of availability, and more to offer. They’re scratching their heads wondering what the hell do they have to do to get more golfers in to visit them?<br /><br />And that’s where we come in, with the European Golf Travel Media Association. Our job is to get away from that "conveyor belt" golf to seek out amazing places and help them prosper. And we’ve found a hum dinger!<br /><br />TorreMirona and Perlada are two resorts a half hour down the road from each other with more going for them than anywhere else in the region. Why? Because these two destinations, blend both golf and cultural attractions unlike anywhere else I've been. </div><div><br /><h2 style="text-align: left;">TorreMirona Golf & Spa Resort</h2><br /><div>First head to the <a href="https://www.hoteltorremirona.com/en/" target="_blank">TorreMirona Golf & Spa Resort</a> about 9km South of Figueres.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidKm0JQlRTvf9OsZ-OgJpOCm54BCHuwPblu4HdsD1YW5hb-XRBVxRLyNMWw37cDeF7Cr92kfc9FzRXD8TxPRgl3Zbk9zKodwhpGVbUt1o9Wa3C14DgJKnXeoHLJ4fzUuTdzoStwmEwjwRBS6JehYw8cDJwQInl7kz81F44i5LiZSQ6vjAH11bNPNwsQyQ/s1802/Kylian%20JO.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1337" data-original-width="1802" height="474" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidKm0JQlRTvf9OsZ-OgJpOCm54BCHuwPblu4HdsD1YW5hb-XRBVxRLyNMWw37cDeF7Cr92kfc9FzRXD8TxPRgl3Zbk9zKodwhpGVbUt1o9Wa3C14DgJKnXeoHLJ4fzUuTdzoStwmEwjwRBS6JehYw8cDJwQInl7kz81F44i5LiZSQ6vjAH11bNPNwsQyQ/w640-h474/Kylian%20JO.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div>That smiling gentleman’s name with Jo is Kilian Archelaguet. He’ll go quietly about his business again this year after a solid T9 in 2022.</div><div><br /></div>Join the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Golfcentral-Daily/731385656972053" target="_blank">GolfCentralDaily community on Facebook Here</a> and on <a href="https://twitter.com/DonalDocHughes" target="_blank">Twitter Here</a>.GolfCentralDailyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07701580566077478087noreply@blogger.com0Jumeirah - Dubai - United Arab Emirates25.2016428 55.2452567-3.1085910361788471 20.0890067 53.51187663617884 90.4015067tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7321519672776175452.post-15422564788884664142023-10-13T10:48:00.002+01:002023-10-13T10:48:30.273+01:00Phil and Bryson React To Peter Dawson Giving Them The Two Fingers<div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOVru4Uxnkn9EFAAJ5sqZrnPzMSPKGtFBtP49mEx26k7N-4-zRr5A3XhWmbVtbpv8W2IGABiEIFUTpgNZg5o2zKfO9s6fWjCJvSnnQNEPWAzH7PBnzIx5XzQ-grGqrgJBVBpzk6SuaUjC_tTjy1w5bu1vt7kjw64nP0vSc8uTEmUt-3Q276lxO_Dgt_Ns/s1080/funny%20gcd%20peter%20dawson.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOVru4Uxnkn9EFAAJ5sqZrnPzMSPKGtFBtP49mEx26k7N-4-zRr5A3XhWmbVtbpv8W2IGABiEIFUTpgNZg5o2zKfO9s6fWjCJvSnnQNEPWAzH7PBnzIx5XzQ-grGqrgJBVBpzk6SuaUjC_tTjy1w5bu1vt7kjw64nP0vSc8uTEmUt-3Q276lxO_Dgt_Ns/s320/funny%20gcd%20peter%20dawson.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div>Phil Mickelson might have all the money in the World but he still loves a good old fashioned Twitter row about LIV Golf.</div><div>After Peter Dawson, the ex-R&A boy now in charge of the World Rankings instead of mowing his lawn and playing bowls, gave Phil and LIV the polite two fingers the other day....a pissed off Mickelson did what all great politicians do when upset and headed straight for twitter.</div><div><br /></div><div>In response to Trevor Immelman suggesting LIV should play ball with Dawson Phil started dropping some insider bombs.</div><div><br /></div><div>He tweeted</div><div><div><b><i>Trevor, LIV was NEVER going to get points. Why? 1)it’s a monopoly run by all the governing bodies 2) the PGA Tour tv contract is based on owgr criteria for them to get all their money 3) they would lose leverage in negotiations if LIV got points4) last but not least, Tour has BORROWED against the tv deal! If they don’t hit their bench marks and don’t get all their tv money(from CBS :) they will have an immediate capital call. 😂</i></b></div><div><b><i>Don’t believe me? Ask Sean McManus</i></b></div></div><div><br /></div><div>Not a clue what you're on about Phil but thanks. There followed loads of shut the hell up, you just play 54 holes, you've no cut, the same lads play every damn week, you chop heads off stuff from randomers trying to bait Phil. And yes it worked.</div><div><br /></div><div><div><b><i>Nope. That’s just their public excuse so they can protect each. A lot of people believe it too 😂</i></b></div><div><b><i>Can’t blame them though cuz people like you simply don’t have all the facts. That’s why I’m sharing them with you now. You’re welcome.</i></b></div></div><div><b><i><br /></i></b></div><div>Now when a man says "a lot of people believe it too..." it reminds me of Donald Trump, and then I think if he is saying a lot of people believe it too, it probably is pure bullshit!</div><div><br /></div><div><div>Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau, much brainier and more level headed in all matters LIV related has used his super intelligence to come up with a brilliant system which would allow LIV players to play in Majors. Wait for this.</div><div><br /></div><div>Bryson thinks the top 12 golfers on LIV’s season-long points list should qualify for the major championships. Ingenious!!</div><div><br /></div><div>“Top 12 on the list, the money list, at the end of the year or the points list at the end of the year, would be I think obvious for the major championships to host the best players in the world at those four events each year,” Bryson said.</div><div><br /></div><div>Twelve. A super number. Amazingly well thought out. Why didn't anyone else think of that.</div></div><div>Problem solved. See the dozen of ye in Augusta!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Join the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Golfcentral-Daily/731385656972053" target="_blank">GolfCentralDaily community on Facebook Here</a> and on <a href="https://twitter.com/DonalDocHughes" target="_blank">Twitter Here</a>.GolfCentralDailyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07701580566077478087noreply@blogger.com0
