Winner Alright: Last Week we tipped Fredrik Jacobsen who came second at 33/1 paying out €92.50 for a €10 each way bet.

Lee Westwood 13/1

Out of the last 20 events Lee has played he has finished in the top-10 a staggering 14 times including victories in Portugal and Dubai. Though winless in 2010 it seems every time Lee tees it up these days he’ll be right in the mix. Bound to be a nailed on favourite but a word of warning. Last year at Wentworth Lee shot 77,77 to miss the cut following a withdrawl the previous year. There’s no question that Westwood is a different man now, as is the course, but will his excellent recent showings at The Masters and The Players be enough to exorcise those Wentworth demons?

Rory McIlroy 14/1

Would you believe it if I told you that this week will be Rory’s 78 start in a professional tournament since his debut at the British Masters in 2005? After a phenomenal performance at Quail Hollow a few weeks back Rory can be forgiven for his missed cut at The Players. The great news for Rors though is after his excellent fifth place finish last year they’ve only gone and made the course more “McFriendly” this week with its added length and new USGA specification greens. No doubt too that Rory will be more comfortable this week spending it closer to home, away from the mania and scrutiny of the PGA tour.

Charl Schwartzel 28/1

Another player the new Wentworth will not phase is South African Charl Schwartzel who makes his first “European” Tour start since the Dubai Desert Classic back in February. A two time winner already this season on the South African swing (the Joburg and Africa Opens), Schwartzel has brought his game to the US with excellent success. Having played well in the WGC matchplay, Charl top tenned in the WGC CA in Doral before tying third at the Shell Houston Open. Misfired at the Masters and struggled to a missed cut at Sawgrass but sure to be tuned up for a tilt this week after tying sixth here last year.

Luke Donald 28/1

Criticized by many as being more content off the winners podium, Luke Donald crosses the Atlantic this week for a rare appearance in his homeland. A consistent performer at the “old” Wentworth with top-10’s in 2007 and 2008 and several other decent finishes here over the years. Luke has already had five top-10’s on the PGA tour this year knocking on the door of victory at The Northern Trust Open and again at the Verizon Heritage. Could this week bring his first week since the 2006 Honda Classic? Form suggests an each way chance.

Miguel Angel Jimenez 45/1

How old is too old nowadays? Miguel Angel Jimenez need only look at the likes of Phil “The Power” Taylor and Tom Watson in his own sport to find inspiration. Jimenez came back onto my radar with a brilliant 66 on Sunday at Augusta to tie for 12^th and he comfortably finished in the top-20 in his two performances since at the Open de Espana and the Italian Open. Could the mechanic, reignite the glory of 2008 when he defeated Oliver Wilson to win the title. Don’t count him out but without sounding ageist the safer option may be an each way flutter.
