Welcome To Turkish Airlines Matchplay Golf, I’m Your Pilot Tiger Woods And My Co Pilot Today Is Chubby Chandler

George O’Grady and Tim Finchem are ripping mad today at the news of a new matchplay event in Antalya, Turkey to take place nine days after the Ryder Cup, and neither are involved.

The event already has the likes of Tiger, Rory, Luke Westwood, Lee Westwood, Justin Rose, Hunter Mahan and Webb Simpson signed up for the $5.3 million prize pot.  It is to be called the Turkish Airways World Golf Finals and be matchplay format.  It’s all part of a huge bid to get the Olympics hosted in Turkey in 2020 with Tiger already a paid off member of the bid on a three year contract.

This year the winner will receive $1.5 million, next year this will rise to $2.5 million.  Last place will receive the $300,000 which sweetens the pot for also rans.

Chubby Chandler and ISM are the beef behind this new event chief which takes place from Tuesday to Friday, so as not interfere too much with the Portuguese Masters and the Frys.Com Open.  Except that is, to make sure that no player in the Turkey field can compete in either tournament that weekend.  Of the players invited only Martin Kaymer and Steve Stricker turned down the invitation.
