I'm worried for Tiger Woods fans, that they think his decision to play in the Masters will be some sort of triumphant return to playing like the best in the world. All the evidence suggests the opposite.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Tiger and Rory do battle down the back nine on Sunday but all the experts are saying that is just not going to happen. At least not this year.

"I'm playing in the Masters," Tiger said yesterday. "It's obviously very important to me, and I want to be there.

"I've worked a lot on my game and I'm looking forward to competing. I'm excited to get to Augusta and I appreciate everyone's support."

I fear for Tiger playing in The Masters. He hasn't played tournament golf in the build up (even skipped Bay Hill) and a look at his form since last year's Honda Classic is saddening with three WD's and a combined 37 over par from his last eight starts.

Maybe instead of longing for the great Tiger Woods to come back the time has come for fans to celebrate  how great he once was and cherish his appearances these days for what they are.

Tiger making the cut would be super, a top 20 would be a real bonus. A win would be a miracle.
