2017 US Open Expert Betting Tips
2017 US Open Betting Preview And Tips

It has been a super year with the betting tips so far so lets straight down to figuring out the puzzle of how to make some returns from our bets at Erin Hills. Before we begin, a word about strategy. The US Open is a cruel event, strange things happen and it's not one in which you place large bets before the start.  Best to watch 18 holes first, see who is still standing and go from there.

Having said that, I am in the business in seeking out value bets so hopefully this will help you narrow it down.

Favourite "Win Only" Market

Jason Day 14/1

With DJ the heavy favourite  at 6/1, it seems Jason Day is almost the forgotten man at 14/1.  This year in fairness has been tough for the Aussie with his Mum's illness but with her now in the USA and doing well, he is slowly but surely getting his golf focus back.  A third 63 at the Byron Nelson helped him to a solo second there and he was T15 last time out at The Memorial.  Day at the US Open is a force of nature the archetypal battler. Five top-10's from six starts, including two seconds with 75 birdies and two eagles along the way. You cant leave out Jason.

Top 5 Each Way 2017 US Open Bets

Jason Dufner 66/1

I think 66/1 is very generous on Jason Dufner; he has a game that is built for the US Open.  Taking out a missed cut at Pinehurst, Dufner is T8, T18, T4, T4 for this tournament and inside the top-7 Greens In Regulation performers in ALL of them.  Match that with improving form through 2017 at The Valspar, Houston, Heritage, Byron Nelson and then a win at The Memorial and you've got yourself  a very educated each way bet at 66/1.

Branden Grace 40/1

Threatened at the last two US Opens with a T5 in Oakmont and T4 at Chambers Bay.  Grace matches long driving with a solid iron game and contended again lately at the BMW PGA Championship on some tricky greens.  Add in a solo 3rd and T4 in the last two PGA Championships and you have a real Major contender.

Kevin Kisner 70/1

Everything is rosy in the world right now for Kevin Kisner and he fears nobody. After coming close at The Arnie, he got his win at Colonial and followed it with a T6 at Muirfield Village.  With a game based on fairways and greens, and confidence high, Kisner looks a decent bet to better his US Open best of T12 in Chambers Bay.

Sergio Garcia 22/1

With two wins this year (Dubai and The Masters) and eight top-20's, Sergio comes to Erin Hills free of the shackles of Best Player Never to Win a Major.  And of all the Majors, I've always felt the US Open suited him best. You simply cannot contend in one without hitting your fairways and greens.  T5 last year at Oakmont, his fifth top-10 in 17 appearances.

Kevin Chappell 70/1

A man who could give you a great run for your money this week is Kevin Chappell.  He comes to Erin Hills in great shape having tied 7th at The Masters, won in Texas and finished T4 last Sunday at the St Jude having gone a cumulative seven under for just the par-4's.  Could well better his US Open best of tied third when Rors ran away with it at Congressional in 2011.

Long Odds Glory Shots

My two long odds glory picks for he US Open are Billy Horschel at 90/1 and Daniel Summerhays at 200/1.  Billy Ho is a gritty competitor coming off a recent win at The Byron Nelson and solid T4 last week in Memphis. He contended in 2013 when Justin Rose won at Merion.

Daniel Summerhays faltered in the final round at The Memorial but what I saw that week was a marked improvement in form from what went before. If he continues to hit fairways and greens like he did at Muirfield Village don’t be surprised to see him on the leaderboard. T8 at Oakmont last year.
