Paddy O'Looney the official "unofficial ambassador of Irish golf tourism" has passed away following a long illness.
Paddy was a former chief executive of SWING (South West of Ireland Golf) and one of the biggest characters in the Irish golf tourism industry.
A scratch golfer in his day, Paddy worked the movers, shakers and influencers of the golf world promoting Ireland and helping shape it into one of the world's top golfing destinations.
Details of funeral arrangements are here.
Brian Keogh at the Irish Golf Desk posted this excellent tribute piece with quotes from those who knew and worked with Paddy.
Paddy O'Looney was honoured by his peers in 2011 for his outstanding contribution to golf.
May he Rest In Peace.
