Pacing back and forth and patting sweat from his brow with a handkerchief as he spoke with reporters last night, PGA Tour Chief Tim Finchem said that just because Rory McIlroy didn't make the cut at the Honda Classic, doesn't mean he wont be playing at the weekend.

Flanked by up to 20 unhappy tournament sponsors and directors of the Honda Company, a clearly exasperated Finchem said he was "pretty sure" he read something in the The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 that would grant McIlroy "Diplomatic Immunity" from the cut, meaning he could play the final two rounds and still potentially win the tournament.

Desperately thumbing through the 400 page document, Finchem added "If you all could just give me a few Goddamn minutes to find the exact clause I think I can prove that Article 32 clearly makes Rory McIlroy immune from cuts ever again until I say otherwise."

Leaving the press conference Honda CEO Takeo Fukui said, "I velly please Woly McIlwoy play de weekend. Finally ass money Finchem do someting like i pay him to do."

More as it emerges.
