The European Tour has this evening come in for criticism after deciding the 2015 Madeira Islands Open with 10 kilometer mud race.

The 70 man field was immediately reduced to five after the first hundred meters, when 65 of the starters refused to continue and sob uncontrollably.

Of the five remaining in the race, four more stopped after becoming memorized by the health benefits of mud on the skin.

That left Ireland's Peter Lawrie as the sole finisher and winner of the event. "I've gotten used to being up shit creek without a paddle in the last year," said a victorious Lawrie after.
