A chief marshal at the Irish Open was left red faced this evening after mistakingly dragging Danny Willett off the course following his final round at the Irish Open.

Former school teacher Ivor Cane, 54, claimed he thought Willett was Violet Beauregard from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and heard a voice in his head instructing him to "take him away to the 'Juicing Room'."

"I have absolutely no idea why he would confuse me with a fictional character who turned into a giant berry after eating a not fully refined sweet at Willy Wonka's chocolate factory" said a perplexed Willett after.
