Martin Kaymer missed the cut at the BMW International Open yesterday.

Needing to make par on the final hole to make the weekend at his home open, the German drove into the water hazard on the left.

A referee was called to determine where the ball last crossed the hazard but despite compelling TV evidence and help from Wayne Riley and Richard Boxall he refused to grant Kaymer what he felt was the correct drop, ruling instead that he play from about 30 yards further back.

In the end Kaymer missed his par putt and the cut.
