2015 KLM Open Betting Preview And Tips

KLM Open, Kennemer G&CC
Zandvoort, The Netherlands 10 Sep 2015 - 13 Sep 2015

Favourites Discussion

Martin Kaymer starts favourite at 10/1 but will his heart be in it this week when he really wanted to be progressing in the PGA Tour Playoffs?  That leaves home favourite Joost Luiten at a generous 18/1 in the betting given his record of three top-sixes in the last four years at Kennemer including a win in 2013.  Even given missed cuts at St Andrews and Whistling Straits sandwiching a T45 at The Bridgestone, Luiten still has the class to perform this week.

Doc’s 2015 KLM Dutch Open Top Five Bets

David Horsey 40/1

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw David quoted at 40/1 with PaddyPower; it looks like they might have been caught napping.  I would probably list him at half those odds given that he has three top-10’s from six appearances at Kennemer and finished solo third in Russia last weekend. Throw in a win a Denmark a couple of weeks back and it gets even more baffling.

Richie Ramsay 40/1

Richie is always solid around this course and has two top 10’s in his last four starts here.  Tied second in 2012 when Peter Hanson won and was T9 in 2014.  First start since missing the cut in Whistling Straits but a 67 after an opening 81 was courageous from the Scot.  Looking to top and tail the season with something to match the Trophee Hassan on the mantelpiece.

Gregory Bourdy 33/1

Two top 10’s from seven appearances in Holland for Greg, one of my favourite players to watch.  Found form again last week in the Czech Republic after a barren spell and will have been happy with a Sunday 67 there which hoisted him from 31st to T8.  On form there are few who can drive it and hit greens like him.

Kristoffer Broberg 33/1

Kennemer hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Kristoffer but he comes in this year in serious form with seven top-20 finishes in his last nine starts.  T8 in the Czech Republic, T2 at the Made in Denmark and T10 in Switzerland are the Swedes last three strokeplay finishes.  If Broberg can match his T4 in fairways hit and T8 in greens in reg. performance from last week and roll his egg a little better he’ll be right in the mix this week.

Romain Wattel 80/1

Love the way the French just down tools for the month and say ‘right we are off on our hols lads!’  Take this tip as more of an educated hunch than anything more as 2015 just hasn’t been stellar for Romain, with a best of solo second in Morocco back in March.  Should really have won here last year having been in pole position after three rounds but faltered to a T5 after a final round 74.  If I know my pros, Romain will be itching to put that right. Hence the tip.

Long Odds Glory

Damien McGrane 150/1 didn’t like the par-3’s last week in Russia but a T8 at the Czech Masters was more like it.  It’s fair to say Holland has been a happy hunting ground for him over the years with four top-10’s from 11 starts. T3 in 2013.

Scott Jamieson is also listed at 150/1 and did well here with a solo fourth in 2012.  Decent T17 last time out in Russia.
