Keith Pelley on the European Tour has promised lots of good things recently regarding growing the Tour, like stamping out slow play and adding a bit of theatre to events but it's actually his counterpart on the PGA Tour side, Tim Finchem, who has come up with the best innovation yet for 2016.

Next season PGA Tour players will have no choice but to play in at least one event they haven't entered in the last four seasons.  This new Strength of Field Regulation will ensure the smaller events will get their fare share of the biggest stars.  What a great idea.

When Tiger Woods added the Wyndham Championship to his schedule at the last minute this year it did wonders for the event and this may have precipitated the change. The new rule wont apply to any player who played over 25 events the previous year.

Now Mr Pelley, what could we do in Europe with that rule? Lots!
