Billy Hurley. Golfing Gods were with him

If anyone deserved to win a PGA Tour event, it was Billy Hurley.  It isn't yet a year since his father went missing, was found, then died tragically from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a shocking turn of events.

Hurley also spent two years at war on a US Navy destroyer in the Persian Gulf so it is very fitting that he won The Quicken Loans National, an event designed to give thanks to the military.

It was actually tournament host Tiger Woods himself that intervened to get the World no 607 into the event.  He had missed five of last eight cuts and not finished better than 41st in any.

But a more composed player down the stretch you will never see.  This was his 105 foot pitch on 15.

Then win gives Hurley a two year a two-year exemption on Tour and places in the field at The Open, PGA Championship and 2017 Masters.

Here are the highlights. We salute you Billy.
