Finally a picture has emerged from the Rory McIlroy-Erica Stahl wedding at Ashford Castle in Ireland last weekend but it's not the one fans might have been expecting.

It has emerged this morning that Rory McIlroy also secretly used his own wedding to broker peace between his two friends but sworn enemies of each other; Sergio Garcia and Padraig Harrington.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is now hotly tipped to be awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize after being flown in by McIlroy to the luxury resort in County Mayo to help resolve the bitter feud.

The moment peace was sealed between Garcia and Harrington

McIlroy is said to have invited Assad to chair the peace talks after they became friends when the world No.2 accepted an invitation to play 18 holes with the Syrian Leader the day after he rigged the election.

Reports say after several hours of drinking Guinness washed down by a few Hendricks and Elderflower tonic with a few Jaegerbombs to finish off, Assad walked onto the wedding reception stage flanked on either side by Garcia and Harrington to rapturous applause from the crowd.  After a sincere handshake between the two former enemies Assad held aloft one arm of both men before forming a Conga line while Stevie Wonder sang "I Just Called To Say I Love You."

The Spanish Irish conflict had been simmering for years, often heightened with shows of force from Garcia who it has long been thought possessed the better weaponry. All out war nearly broke out in 2003 when an incursion by Garcia saw him spit into the no mans land between Harrington's house and the grass verge on the road.

Assad spoke to reporters before leaving Ashford Castle.

"I'm absolutely delighted to broker the peace between the two guys.  You know there's a lesson in this for all of us. If sworn enemies like Sergio and Padraig can find it in their hearts to reconcile there's no reason why we cant solve our differences in Syria.  Our problems are minor compared to what these two guys faced.  Arghhhhh-hey....I got you all guys...look...I had my fingers crossed the whole time!"

More as it emerges.
