Xander Schauffele was embarrassed at The Open after he was highlighted as having a driver that failed the R&A’s "legal driver" test.  The reason Shauffele was so angry was that HIS name was leaked, and he was just one of up to 13 guys of the 30 tested to have their drivers fail the CT (Characteristic Time) test.

My insider told me that drivers from Callaway, PXG and TaylorMade and possibly more we among 13 clubs score higher than 239 (+18 tolerance) microseconds or higher than the max 257 microseconds allowed during testing at The Open.

Xander uses an Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero 9 degree (and if they are hot I'm going straight out to get one! I didn't just say that!)

"When a driver with the same head and shaft hit with the same swing speed suddenly flies off the face 4mph faster and winks at you  on the way past it's illegal!" my insider said. "These clubs are so hot that if a guy doesn't make perfect contact the ball could go anywhere.  They are having to cut down shafts to 44.5 inches to try and control the ball."

Xander Shauffele was livid at being named and shamed. “The R&A, they pissed me off because they attempted to ruin my image by not keeping this matter private,” he said at The Open. “This is me coming out and treating them the exact way they treated me.”

And besides that it was all wonderfully swept under the carpet!
