Watson, Nicklaus, Kite, Woods, McDowell and Woodland.  Pebble Beach always finds a way to pick the right winner.

This time she chose the Tour's nice guy Gary Woodland.  Strong and assured and positive and putting better, when it counted most, than any man on planet Earth.

How Did He Do It?

Woodland hit 40 fairways for the tournament including 10 of 14 on Sunday with his Ping G410 Plus driver and fairway averaging 310 yards.  Gaming Wilson Staff Model Blades irons the 35-year-old then found 50 greens in regulation, second only in the stats to Brooks Koepka who hit 52.  But for all his power Woodland's Titleist Vokey and TaylorMade HiToe  wedges and Scotty Cameron Newport prototype putter came up clutch when it counted.  The Florida resident ended the week averaging just 27.5 putts per round with 110 total, T19 in the stats.  Over 72 holes Woodland totaled 17 birdies versus just four bogeys, best in the field and now he's a Major Champion.
