I posted a couple of months back about PGA of America bringing back the Long Drive Contest at Valhalla and later today on the 10th tee it kicks off. Unfortunately one of the star attractions, Bubba Watson, says he doesn't want to participate.

Even though the pros do not have to all congregate on the 10th tee; they can hit their long drive as the play the 10th during their practice rounds; Bubba was not in the mood for debating the point.

“I’m there to play golf, not to hit it far,” Bubba told the Golf Channel. “I’ve got to practice. I’ve never been to the course. I don’t need to worry about a long drive on the 10th hole.”

I thought Bubba had created his Bubba-long persona out of that very attribute; seems I was wrong.

It'll be interesting to see later if he hits an iron off the 10th tee!
