Shane Lowry can look forward to 2015 with renewed excitement after confirmation came earlier today that his beard has broken into the world's top 50.

Following an appearance at the Fairyhouse Races on Saturday, Lowry's crumb catcher ousted Hangover actor Zach Galifianakis' chin foliage from the World Number 50 spot and in doing so ensured an invitation to some of the biggest face fuzz events in 2015.

Lowry's face forest has already received an invitation to the Beardy Masters in April where he will compete against the world's best fanny dusters including Abraham Lincoln, Ronny Drew and world number one face puber Gandalf, himself aiming to achieve the career Grand Slam.

Sky Sports are set to feature Lowry's face minge in a special report to be aired on New Years Day.  The report will feature humorous anecdotes on the career of Lowry's cornflake catcher from Colin Montgomerie and Butch Harman as well as a comparison's with fellow countryman Gary Murphy, who is unable to grow any hair on his skull at all.

The report will be aired on Sky Sports News channel 401 at 7.00, 7.10, 7.20, 7.30, 7.40, 7.50, 8.00, 8.10, 8.20, 8.30, 8.40, 8.50 and 9.00pm.
