While Team USA are in crisis in Ryder Cup terms, things couldn't be brighter on the European side.  The only slight cloud on the horizon is Paul McGinley's endorsement of everyone's favourite for the job in 2016, Darren Clarke.

Because he did such an excellent job in Gleneagles, McGinners has become the Len Goodman, or head judge, of the selection panel to endorse the next Captain. But will he bury the hatchet with Darren (who favoured Monty to take charge for Gleneagles) and back him?

He spoke to Tom Allnut in the Daily Mail.

Would Clarke be a good captain? The one thing I cannot do is express an opinion on that,' McGinley said.

'I'll talk about it afterwards but at this moment it's only right I stay neutral and am fair to all the candidates.
Not quite the done deal we all thought it was so.  My money from the Iron Bank is still on Darren!
