**Update: Case is adjourned until 11am tomorrow. Much talking to be done between both sides tonight!  This may not see the courtroom again. Settlement looks likely.**

Rory McIlroy looked positively shocked inside the Four Courts in Dublin this morning as the full realization of what he was about to get involved in came into sharp focus.

Nobody could have prepared McIlroy for the frenzy he faced and the bite of the legal teams.  The case was ajourned after just 42 seconds to allow legal teams to "narrow" the brief and deferred again at 2pm for further discussions.

Whispers from inside the courts suggest a settlement could yet be announced to avoid McIlroy what emerged today to be a possible two weeks in the witness box where his character and personal life would be examined in intricate detail and in a public setting. If a settlement is announced it is expected to be in favour of Horizon to the tune of over 15 million euro.

RTE news reported earlier that Judge Brian Cregan was told by counsel for Mr McIlroy, Paul Gallagher SC, that both parties "were making progress".

My guess is a settlement will be made. This is the scene outside the courts just now as the media are told to expect a statement.
