Depending on whether you're a glass half full or half empty Tiger Woods fan, the news that according to good friend Notably Gay III, Tiger is "50:50" now to play The Masters will either leave you sad or optimistic.

Getting past the weirdness surrounding Begay constantly telling golf TV shows what Tiger is doing and saying in private, his best mate painted a very upbeat picture of Woods game.

In an interview (which cannot be embedded) on an SI site Begay said "Tiger's game as a whole is in a great place," and added that "Things are really settling."

Noticeably absent were are any references to his mental state, but Begay did sum up Tiger's progress in the context of The Masters. "It's literally a 50:50 chance of playing; three weeks ago I would have said it's a 1 in 10 chance."

Woods has 18 days to push on and tip the balance in his favour.
