A Cork man is this evening recovering in a Belfast Hospital after being admitted suffering from hypothermia suffered while attending the final round of the Irish Open.

Bernard Savage, 31, from Cork City said he "was awful sorry he ever begged for a ticket" off a friend of his who was making out they were harder to get than for the Mayweather Pacquiao fight.

"I spent a hundered quid on the ticket, another hundred on diesel, twenty for the shitty plastic raincoat and I don't have health insurance," said a downtrodden Savage.

Friends of the Cork man sent messages of support to him this evening from the pub where they were having a great time altogether.

More as it emerges.
