It's not often I get off being ridiculous, but maybe the handling of Rory McIlroy since Monday could be argued as being more ridiculous than any of my satire.

If you have been following my Rory posts in recent days you will know about his absolutely crazy schedule since last Sunday.  The poor guy never stood a chance of making the cut in Wentworth; he was wrecked.

Yes Rory is very much his own man, and in the middle of a five tournament stretch, but if blame is to be apportioned for missing the cut at the BMW PGA Championship, both Nike and McIlroy's management team must have to share it.

Who in Nike thought it wise to subject the World Number 1 to a full day of corporate work after he stepped off a transatlantic flight on Monday morning?  Shouldn't someone in his management have stood up and questioned the workload and whether sending their jetlagged man to the GSK Human Performance Lab on Tuesday was the brightest idea in the world?

I'm sure Rory has the last say in all decisions but he's not one to say "no" as we all saw at the Wednesday Pro-Am, so it's up to those around him to help him with his scheduling where possible.

The life of Rory McIlroy will always be hectic, but what we saw this week was borderline wreckless with his time.
