Mixed martial artist Conor McGregor has warned Jordan Spieth he will "rip him to shreds" after the two time Major Champion offered to step in for injured champion Jose Aldo in a UFC title fight next month.

Here's the reaction of all the key players.

"I heard what happened Aldo and I didn't want fans and kids to be disappointed if the fight was cancelled so I offered to step in," said Spieth. "I'm hoping to win this fight in a loving, non violent way, possibly by forcing a hugging submission."

UFC Chairman Dana White said "While on paper it looks like Jordan Spieth hasn't anything like the skillset to go into a cage with that mental bastard, he'll probably find a way to come through and win in the end."

Speaking as if reading to slightly deaf people from a book Conor McGregor addressed this warning to Spieth "I will quickly manouever you into a hold with my powerful legs and systematically pluck the few hairs you have left on the top of your head just as Moses did in The Bible."
More as it emerges.
