Tiger Woods spent a long day in Chambers Bay this weekend folks.

The now World No 172's undercover visit to Chambers Bay for a reconaissance mission at the weekend coincided with the crappiest day in the Northwest for a week as he battled heavy showers throughout.

My spy at University Place tells me Woods was in good spirits, saluting the few onlookers when they clapped.  The 14 times Major champion came with the same golf he has been playing; some utterly brilliant iron shots and some woeful driving. My man noted too that Woods seemed confident with his greenside wedges but didn't see enough to judge.

Woods spent seven hours out on the course breaking for lunch for another hour after nine holes.  Joe LaCava and Chris Como were also in attendance.  Several group discussions were seen around the greens complexes.

I'm still praying for a Woods miracle and you know what? Fair play to him for getting down there to practice. The U.S. Open starts June 18th.
