Louis Oosthuizen could be teeing it up for Team USA in the 2016 Ryder Cup. The former Open Champion revealed he has applied for US citizenship.

"My parents told me I was born in South Africa, but to be honest I can hardly remember one thing about the place," said Oosthuizen holding back tears last night. "I play on the PGA Tour, have an American wife, American kids and speak with an American accent. I'm 120% American."

The shock news of Oosthuizen's departure was kept off the front pages of South Africa's top sports newspapers by the absolutely crushing Rugby World Cup defeat the Springbok's took at the hands of 15 tiny little guys from Japan.

"I wasn't even watching," said Oosthuizen. "Couldn't give a shit about rugby really. Is it like American Football? That's my sport, me being completely American and all."
