Yesterday was a sad day for sport with the passing of all time great All Black rugby legend Jonah Lomu at just 40 years old and maybe it's a reminder that nobody can go on forever.

I think many of us still live with the hope of seeing Tiger Woods play his very best golf again, but that now looks as far off as ever with the news that he is set to one of Davis Love's most trusted Vice Captain's at next years Ryder Cup. Well, one of at least five.

It's a far cry from being the most dominant player in the world, to agreeing to chauffeur a buggy full of WAGS around a golf course. But at least it shows Woods does actually care about the Ryder Cup to commit at this stage.

After another back surgery two weeks ago, it seem just another indicator that Woods is winding down.

It wont get as much coverage but Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker were also named assistant captains. Jim Furyk? Surely he's still a valuable player on Team USA.
