The 2022 Ryder Cup is heading to Italy!

Marco Simone Golf Club near Rome is set to get a massive facelift to prepare it for the showpiece. The prize money for the Italian Open has also risen sharply to €3 million in 2016 and a whopping €7 million the year after. It's all about the money.

The question now is who will Captain Europe in Italy?  With three Ryder Cups between this and then, that will give Captaincy chances to Darren Clarke, Padraig Harrington and one could argue between Thomas Bjorn and Lee Westwood.

That could leave a then 40 year old Francesco Molinari with a solid chance to take over the reigns in his home country.  Just a thought but I think Fran would make a fine Captain. The silent assassin!
