Darren Clarke is in hot water with the European Tour this morning after he defied Tour rules and brazenly wore shorts on the course at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.

Clarke had butted heads in recent times with tournament director David Garland and European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley, arguing that players should be allowed wear shorts on the course during Tournaments.

Though Tour Authorities did relent somewhat, decreeing that shorts could be worn during practice rounds only, that did satisfy the Ryder Cup Captain who chose today to make his daring protest.

The Ulsterman walked closely behind Rory McIlroy throughout his Pro-Am round at Abu Dhabi Golf Club wearing a tight fitting faux-denim pair of shorts, posing for photos throughout.
