The members of Ardglass Golf Club are celebrating this morning after their head professional Paul Vaughan won a top award at restaurant chain TGI Fridays' annual gala ball in London.

The giant restaurant chain honoured Vaughan for having the balls to open the first ever TGI Fridays to be located inside a golf club.  Vaughan's restaurant "TGI Golf" at Ardglass GC regularly hosts Northern Ireland's top celebrities such as Peter Robinson, Gerry Adams and the announcer lad from UTV who does the funny voices before Coronation Street.

"Paul's a great guy and he's always there at the restaurant working hard," said Ardglass member Tommy Sharpless. "You never know where you'd find him. One minute he could be cleaning out the toilets, the next he could be tossing a salad with his hands; he's just tireless and so dedicated. He does everything himself."

The award, cut from the back of a squash court, will be on view in Sean's pub in Ardglass from 3pm today.
