Rory McIlroy actually had a Scotty Cameron putter at Baltusrol that he desperately wanted to use.

Rich Beem had a locker opposite Rory McIlroy at the PGA Championship and he spoke to him about showing him a new Scotty Cameron putter he had received but couldn't use because he was contracted to Nike.  The Scotty putter was designed to be almost an exact replica of the one he used prior to signing for Nike.

Rich told the story to Joe on Off The Ball on Newstalk after. (Here's the link) It's near the end.

We suspected that Nike were on their way out of the golf equipment market when they didn't show up at the 2016 PGA Show in Florida last January. Where they once had the biggest pitch on the Demo Day range, this year they didn't attend. The writing was on the wall.
