Anyone who watched Tiger Woods' birdie free opening round of 77 at the Dubai Desert Classic must have been heartbroken to see arguably the Greatest of all Time seem only a shadow of his former self.

Tiger Woods Dubai Desert Classic Highlights
A stiff and nervy Tiger Woods was a shadow of his former self in Dubai today

From the off Tiger seemed stiff and sore, not just when swinging but even walking up out of bunkers.  Greens were missed, piling even greater pressure on his bunker and short game which was rusty. And even the putts were very unTiger like with several stopping short of the hole.

Woods was +5 for the round today. To put that into perspective, it's only his third over par round ever at Emirates GC.  He's a cumulative 92 under for his other 28 rounds.

Let's hope for better tomorrow from Tiger, we all understand that the process of getting back to Tour speed will take time.

A word of caution though, condition for the afternoon starters, of which Woods is one, are predicted to be extremely tough and windy.
