Two time Major Champion Hubert Green has passed away aged 71 from throat cancer.

Green won the 1977 US Open and 1985 PGA Championship and recorded six top-10's at The Masters from 1974 to 1980. He also won 19 times on the PGA Tour and once on the European Tour at the 1977 Carrolls Irish Open beating Ben Crenshaw by a single shot.

Green was inducted in the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007

His finest moment came in the 1977 at Southern Hills when he won the US Open.

Throat cancer made retirement tough for Green but golf helped him through.
