Ever heard the saying "fail to prepare, prepare to fail"?
Well what about Shane Lowry who went out to Dubai weeks ago to practice and acclimatise then hit the ground running by winning the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Abu Dhabi GC.
An opening round of 62 catapulted the Irishman into a lead that would ultimately prove crucial in edging out South African Richard Sterne.

Such was the character that Lowry displayed, that he headed into Sunday with a three shot lead, and watched it become a four shot deficit, but clawed it all back to win the first Rolex Series of 2019.
For his part Richard Sterne played a superb role in the drama, engineering a seven shot swing in the leaderboard by the 10th hole.
But Lowry was simply not to be denied. Birdies at 11, 13 and 18 and a trademark miracle chip and putt par at 17 proved crucial as Sterne capitulated with two late bogeys.
"It’s been a tough couple of years on the course….not off it, but definitely on it," said an emotional Shane Lowry after.

How Did He Do It
Using a Callaway Epic Flash driver the man from County Offaly hit just 21 fairways over the four rounds (T55 in the stats) and averaged 299.8 yards. But such was his dominance with his blend of Srixon Z585 and Z785 irons that he found 58 greens in regulation, T18 in the field, and set a European Tour record by birdieing 11 of the par threes.  Key also to Lowry's win was his Odyssey O-works Red 2Ball putter with which he averaged 27 putts per round and 108 putts total to lie T7 in the overall putting stats.
