What was Sergio Garcia thinking?  On the one week where everybody is walking on eggshells during a very divisive and politically sensitive tournament, the Spaniard intentionally damaged up to five greens and got himself DQ'd.

Sergio Garcia had voiced his unhappiness with the greens all week. He also had a temper tantrum in a bunker when he got a bad lie on Friday.

According to witnesses Garcia lost his temper on several occasions, but at one point particular just hacked his putter down several times on the green.  Patrick Reed coming up in the group behind spotted the gouge marks and called in the referee.  Each of the next three groups also complained about the marks.

Then Tour boss Keith Pelley (himself having a shitty week after the Hoatong Li penalty controversy) was called in to discuss the matter with Garcia's manager Irek Myskov and Tour official Steve Todd. The upshot was an immediate DQ and possible further sanctions to come.

Garcia has not been seen since the incident and is believed to have left the country immediately after.
