Sports management has a great way of keeping the top stars far away from us mere mortals and sometimes it's easy to forget they are human too.

My wife was out jogging in the village yesterday morning (wont say where) and Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica just happened to be walking the other way sipping their coffees!



And how would you react if Tiger Woods stepped onto the treadmill beside you in the gym?  Well I don't think I would whip out my phone for a sneaky pic to prove it, but in a strange way I'm glad this person did.




There's something earthy and downright normal about it.  Tiger has worked incredibly hard on his fitness to recover from his back and leg problems.

But he's still mega business.  I read some figures about his Masters win and how he still moves the needle.

A total of 37.2 million viewers watch Tiger on Sunday at The Masters, a 41 percent rise on those who watched Pat Reed the year before.

393,000 people watched Reed's final putt on Twitter, 7.85 million watched Tiger!

Bridgestone ball sales are set to rise by 20 to 30 percent and they have seen a 209% increase in engagement on Twitter, a 400% increase on Facebook and a 205% increase in traffic to their site since the Masters.

TaylorMade say they sold more of the P7TW irons used by Woods in the first seven hours after the Masters than the first seven days when they were launched.

Tiger is the tide that rises all boats in the golf world. Long may the treadmill spin!
