"Suddenly but not unexpected" was the general feeling of mourners as they came in their thousands to the funeral of Henrik Stenson's 3-wood in Gothenburg Sweden yesterday.

The Callaway Diablo Octane lay in state at the Church of the Holy Face from 8am until dusk before being brought via a horse drawn golf trolley to its final resting place amid tearful scenes. It is believed up to 45,000 Swedes filed past the coffin to pay their respects to the famous fairway finder which won a Silver Medal, a FedExCup, a Race to Dubai and a Claret Jug.

A private smelting ceremony was later attended by family friends and caddies. It is believed the Diablo Octane was later made into a tin opener.

Rest In Peace.
