When Sheboygan police asked for help identifying the man who had just stolen one of the giant Omega clocks from the golf course at Whistling Straits there was initial consternation when several members of the public contacted them to say it was Jason Day.

As it turned out the thief wasn't Day at all but  24-year-old local Hugo Nguyen who looked just like him.

When the police found Nguyen wheeling the clock out of the property in a wheelbarrow he told them he won it “a putting challenge.”

He was arrested having managed to hump the clock a half mile by himself.

Omega say the chrome and metal display watch is worth $8,000 and congratulated Nguyen for his ingenuity in detaching it from its secure pin.

The entrepreneurial thief could now face six years in jail and/or $10,000 in fines for the attempted theft.

Poor bugger hardly deserves that? Maybe Rors could help him out?
