I've been away from golf for the weekend but in catching up see several reports that the golfing world continues to turn against Donald Trump.

The PGA Tour are set to pull out of their event at Doral, where they've operated for 53 years, as a direct result of Trumps comments and views on ethnic groups.

Now the European Tour have torn up their agreement would would have seen the Scottish Open at Trump International Turnberry next Summer.

The R&A have also said the 2020 Open Championship, slated to return to Turnberry, will not happen while the Trump name is above the door.

I see now at the weekend Dubai developer Damac Properties who partner with Trump International Golf Club Dubai and Trump World Golf Club Dubai have taken Donald Trump's image off all their signage.

I'm just worried about the knock on affect this could have for Doonbeg in Ireland.  It's one of my favourite courses and has already had its fair share of battering from the elements.

Doonbeg relies heavily on the American tourist market and the question is 'will they still come' given all this bad press?

Lets hope common sense will prevail and golfers will leave their hangups back home and enjoy Doonbeg for what it is; a fantastic golf course.
