Sky Sports Golf has been rocked this morning by allegations that legendary commentator Ewen Murray is not actually as intelligent as he comes across on TV, after a pub quiz team, of which he was a member, came last in a weekly Monday night quiz in Stockport.

Ewen Murray with Table 6 at a pub quiz last night in Stockport.
Mild mannered Murray, 36, widely regarded by golf fans as the cleverest man in the whole world, was forced to join three strangers at the Horse and Hound pub after his regular teammates for the 10 round quiz had to cancel at late notice.

Eyebrows were raised when the team, Table 6, featuring Scotland's own answer to Einstein, finished last out of eight tables on a score of 43 out of 100, even doing shit in the picture round.

The online forum "Eggheads International" which consists solely of MENSA level quizzers have long postulated a theory that Murray's seemingly all powerful knowledge on TV is actually being supplemented by a host of Sky Sports researchers and statistical data being made available on a screen in front of him and that in actual fact he's not the sharpest tool in the box.

Supporters of the God like ex-European Tour player were quick to come to his defence however claiming that Murray actually plucks all his stats straight out of his own arse and knows so much about everything in golf because he has dinner with every player every night. Except on Mondays, when he does quizzes.

More as it emerges.
